Ebooks For eBay: Make Money From Selling Your Ebooks On eBay

eBay is not only a place where people buy and sell their phones, laptops, designer clothes or CDs. There is also a smallish but busy market for ebooks on there. It's fairly easy to put your own ebook together and sell it in one of the largest marketplaces in the world.

* First you'll need an idea for your ebook. It can be more or less anything you like. But I wouldn't recommend you publish fiction as an ebook. There's not much money in that. Ideally, you should choose a fairly specialist non-fiction subject. Think about picking some skill or talent you have. Anything from car repairs, to gardening, to DIY, to dressmaking, to bookkeeping, to cookery or badminton. Draw on your experience to create a simple 'how to' ebook.

* If you don't want to write your own ebook you can instead lift some information from the public domain. The Gutenberg library has 33,000 public domain books you can cut-and-paste. It's perfectly legal to do this by the way.

* Put your book together and turn it into a PDF file. Good tip - include as many illustrations, maps, tables, charts and so on as you can, plus your own photos. Apart from looking nice these are easy to do and make your book look more valuable.
Now you're going to need to sell your books. There are a few ins and outs to it you need to know:

* On eBay.co.uk you can't sell books in the normal auction format. You can only sell them as 'Buy It Now' in the fixed price format, using a classified ad.

* Sign up for an eBay seller account in the normal way. If you haven't got one already it's very simple to do.

* Now write a listing advertising your ebook. Don't give people just the title. Write 300-500 words explaining what your ebook offers. Include lots of key words in the title so that people looking for that kind of information can easily find it in searches.

* Be sure to list multiple copies for sale... say 10 or 20 not just one. Then you won't have to keep relisting when books sell.

Now there's one little snag I need to tell you about... plus how to get around it.

eBay.co.uk don't let you sell ebooks as a download, ie. delivered by email. So when a book sells you'll need to burn your books onto a CD and pop them in the post to the buyer. Shop around with stationery suppliers. You can buy CDs very cheaply now and it only costs the price of a normal stamp to post them out.
(By the way, when I sell my ebooks on eBay I also email buyers a copy of the ebook the same day AS WELL, as an extra courtesy. Your customers will be a lot happier if they can get the book straightaway.)
One thing: There's a limit to the amount people will pay for an ebook on eBay. I don't know why, that's just how it is. So ideally you need to price your ebook cheaply, at around £3, £5 or £10 at the very most. (Your costs will be low so this still offers a decent profit margin.)

Actually, I know a way to make a LOT MORE from selling your ebooks on eBay!

The way to do this is to use a two stage marketing system: First, create some small, cheap ebooks and sell them for a pound or two on eBay. Collect the names and email addresses of buyers and compile them up into a mailing list. (Ask people if they want to opt out.)

Next, create some longer, higher priced ebooks on the same and similar subjects. Good quality ebooks that will justify a £10 or £20 price tag.

Now send details of these more profitable ebooks out to your mailing list.

As you know for a fact these people are interested in purchasing information on that subject (because they've already bought once) and they already know and trust you, you should get a good sales conversion rate.... and could make hundreds or even thousands of pounds from each mailing. (This will be outside of eBay so you won't have to pay their fees either.)

Why not have a think about what sort of ebooks you could write and sell on eBay?

Procedures To Publish And Make Money With E-Books

E-books are books that are in electronic formats or digital texts, and can be downloaded to a computer or other digital storage device. Creating and selling e-books is a great way to make money online since all that is required from you is to invest a one-time effort that you can continue to reap reward from for a very long time, i.e. you will bear no additional cost for your e-book to be downloaded by people who buy it from you online or through the internet.

When creating an e-book, the essential factor is not how voluminous is its content, but how valuable is the information it contains, i.e. its ability to proffer a solution to the need of the market it is targeting; therefore an important factor that characterizes a profitable e-book or one that will be successful is its ability to satisfy the need of its target market or niche. It is therefore important to devote time and effort in carrying out thorough research so as to find out what the needs of a target market are, and then proceed to gather resources with which to create an e-book that will find an answer to that need. Some of the ways through which you can create or publish an e-book are as follows:

Using Your Knowledge:

One of the ways through which you can create your own e-book is by applying the knowledge or experience that you have acquired in the past relating to the topic or subject that you want to write an e-book on. If you feel that your knowledge on a particular topic is good enough to employ in writing an e-book that will prove valuable in finding a solution to the need of a target market or niche, then you can go ahead and write on it. If you're deficient in putting up a good write-up, then you can use a recording device to put it together by simply talking out the e-book point-by-point and in detail. After you have finished recording it in audio format, you then look for a good writer to transcribe or put it in written form for you, which you now edit or get someone to edit for you.

Conduct Research And Interviews:

Another way to go about creating your own e-book is to commence a research and interview exercise. Carrying out research and interviews are necessary if you don't have enough resources or facts with which you can write on a particular area of interest. If this be the case, then you need to consult expert advice by conducting an interview with an expert on the niche you're writing on; you can as well acquire good knowledge by searching for and reading relevant books, blog posts, forum posts etc. on the topic being researched. After gathering sufficient information, you can repeat the process in the foregoing paragraph, by recording it in audio format and having it transcribed.

Use Resale Rights Books:

Resale Rights books are those that have already been written, and to which you reserve the privilege to use as your personal book after purchasing it. Books with resale rights gives you right to customize the book to suit your aim, such as doing away with the original cover of the book and replacing it with your own custom-made cover or e-cover as the case may be. You also have the opportunity to keep 100% of profits or money made from sales of such books.

However, before you decide to make use of resale rights books, make sure the book contains valuable or relevant information that can help to solve the problem of your target market. In order to evaluate whether a resale rights book is worth using, some questions need to be answered, such as: Do you personally like the book? Does the book contain good up-to-date information? Can the book deliver on its promises? Is the value of the book worth its price? This points need to be considered before opting for a resale rights book.

Outsourcing Your Work:

Again, you can create an e-book by deciding to outsource the job to an expert. You can reach an agreement with an expert or a professional to undertake the entire task of creating the e-book. You can employ the services of sites who can do such jobs through the internet.

After creating your e-book, you can make money with it through a number of ways which include the following -

  • Giving it out as bonus offer so as to get the email addresses or contacts of subscribers whom you can subsequently market your other products or affiliate products to.
  • Including links to your websites or affiliate sites in your e-books, which readers can visit for further information relating to the content of the e-book.
  • You can also enter into a joint venture with marketers who have a huge list or subscriber base, or you can set up an affiliate program, so that other people (affiliates) can help you promote your product.

How to Write Your First Ebook

Writing your first ebook may seem like a daunting task. But like many projects, it won't seem so bad when it's broken down into manageable chunks. Not all projects are successful, so don't be too disappointed if your first ebook isn't a best seller. Whatever the outcome of your first ebook, you can at least say 'You did it'.
Like many things in life, what often seems impossible can be attained with the right attitude and the right equipment. It could be a marathon run, climbing a mountain or finding parking space at the supermarket.
If you want to play golf, you will need clubs, balls and some practice. There's no guarantee you will become another Tiger Woods but you will become a golfer.
If you want to write an ebook, you will need a computer, software and some directions. Assuming you have a computer and software or access to them, here are some directions.

Establish Your Reasons
Your reasons for wanting to write an ebook will have a major impact on your success. It may be for financial gain, promoting a business, advancing your career, education, self satisfaction or something entirely different. Whatever your reasons, write them down. It will help to motivate you if the going gets tough.

Choose Your Subject
There are countless subjects that you can write about. It's wise to choose something you have an interest in or knowledge of. It is worthwhile spending time on this. The more you know about your subject, the easier it will be to write about.

Choose Your Title
After you've chosen your subject, you'll need a title for the ebook. It's worth writing down a few different ones before deciding on the one you'll use. This will help to keep your focus and may give you some other ideas. The title should give a clear indication of the content in your book. A catchy title may help to sell it, but remember to balance this with clarity to keep it in context. I've written down two examples. Feel free to use them if you have a sense of humor.
A Clubbers Paradise - Golfing in Ibiza
20 Minutes Late - The Future of Trains

Choose Your Audience
The subject and style of your writing will determine your audience. Decide who your desired audience will be. Age, gender, culture, social background and education are factors you may want to consider. What you write should be targeted at your desired audience.

Write Your Thesis Statement
Although it's possible to write your ebook without a 'thesis statement', it is not recommended. If you are unfamiliar with this term, there are many sources available that will provide you with all the details you need. Unfortunately, there are some differences of opinion that may lead to confusion.
The 'thesis statement' deserves a separate article of its own but for now I have written a general definition of a thesis statement for ebooks. This may leave the door open for criticism but is a small price to pay if it removes some of the confusion. More importantly, it will give you a base on which to start. Only use it as a guideline. If you want a more specific definition, Google is a good place to start your search.
A thesis statement is a sentence or two written to clearly show the reason(s) for your ebook and what you expect to write about.
Although I have referred to this as a general definition, keep in mind that your actual statement should be as specific as possible.
Think of it as the foundation for your ebook. It should contain the following:
1) Your subject
2) Your opinion on the subject
3) A supporting reason for your opinion
4) The significance of 1), 2) and 3)

Create Your Document

Now that you have the foundation, you can begin writing.
A standard application like MS Word is a good choice.
While you are writing your document you can revise your thesis statement at any time up until it is published. This provides a good degree of flexibility.
Choose the format and layout of your document, including chapters, headings and introductions. Dependent on your subject, you may wish to add photographs, anecdotes or testimonials that keep the reader's attention.
Since an ebook is generally read from a screen, you may want to break up the text more than in a printed book. Experiment with a few different fonts and look at other ebooks for ideas you can use. Spell check and save your document regularly. MS Word has an auto recovery feature. This is useful if you don't save the document on a regular basis and later experience a system crash. Always backup your document. As a precaution you should also keep a copy on another media such as CD.

Choose Your Ebook Format

This is a personal choice. You may decide to create an executable (.exe) file or a Portable Document Format (.pdf) file. By no means an exhaustive list, here are some points to consider before you choose.
EXE files are compiled using an ebook compiler
EXE files may offer features that are not available with PDFs
EXE files can only be read on a PC
EXE files don't require any other software to be read
EXE files are easy to open, easily branded, and good viral marketing tools
EXE files may be susceptible to viruses although some compilers offer virus protection
More information on the better compilers can be found at
http://www.ebook-site.com/ebook-compilers.html
PDF files can be created using Adobe Acrobat
PDF files can be created with several other 3rd party applications
PDF files are an industry standard
PDF files can be read by both PC and MAC
PDF files require Adobe Reader to be read
PDF files are highly unlikely to become infected
More information on PDFs can be found on the Adobe website

Create Your Ebook

Create your ebook in your chosen format.
Congratulations you are now an author.

Ebooks

Do you know what Ebook. Ebook means “electronic book”.. we can see, this ebook is a book that is stored in a digital format and will be displayed on electronic devices such as handheld computers, computer, laptop and etc.. we always use a pdf program to display the ebook..

Ebook is always popular. Today everyone need it. Teacher, student, housewife, engineer, and so on.. Ebooks are popular because of their many advantages, including:
  • Ebooks are highly portable. Because they are digital, you can fit many volumes of ebooks in a tiny space. This also helps address the problem of heavy student backpacks.
  • Ebooks can include links to other resources. Ebooks can link to pictures, dictionaries, writing tools, additional scaffolded information, and notes.
  • Ebooks can go with you wherever you are (as long as you have your handheld). People read more when they have more access to reading materials.
  • Ebooks are “kid-friendly.” Kids are used to small electronic devices, and for some hesitant readers, presentation of text in smaller chunks is more comfortable.

Ebook Reader Software

We need a reader software if want to read ebook. If you want to read an ebook, you need an ebook reader program that is compatible with your device.
